My motherboard just bloody blew up!

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.80GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £113.84

Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £67.99

Corsair Dominator 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 XMS2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X2048-8500C5D) £42.54

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) £19.54

I'm trying to keep it cheap as possible, any better recommendations on this? Is it all compatible? Can I overclock with that board?

Thanks

I would try and increase your budget, if you can, to include 4 gig of memory as it would make all the difference - otherwise it's a solid build.

It all looks very compatible and should work well. I would recommend getting 4 GB of RAM though, this stuff is highly recommended and cheaper.

The ACF7 is a decent cooler - but could you stretch an extra tenner and get the Titan Fenrir - its one of the best coolers available.

Ram replaced. Just looking at the mmotherboards, whats the difference between the chipsets? x48 p43 etc? Is if worth spending alittle extra for the x48? Never bought Intel before, been using AMD since the 200mhz days :D

If you are planning on overclocking or adding a second ATI graphics card - the x48 is a great board, loads of features. This one looks great and is a bargain for such a high spec board.

TBH I dont bother much with clocking anymore, I used to go for the best board, best steppings etc, as long as I can get a few 100MHZ more I'm happy.

Thanks chaps.

If you're only after a gentle overclock you may as well save your money - but if i had my time again i would personaly spend a little extra and get the Asus version of your mobo (i have a P43 gigabyte) - the Asus P5QL Pro Intel P43 (Socket 775).
