Hi, been out the game for a bit and theres new processors and GFX's out now and I don't have a clue what to buy.

1st the simple stuff, I want that 28" Hanns G and a Blu Ray re-writer, I assume these have all gone sata format now to deal with the huge amouts of data being dealt with?

Now last time I knew about PC's the Quad Core just came out, the Q6600 - what developments have been made on this?

And the GFX to have was a 8800GT - What improvements have been made on this lol.

4gb DDR2 ram still the norm I believe?

A brief rank of processors/gfx would be sweet.

I'd read up but it'll probably take me ages to work it all out, if someone said it nice and easily i'll compute it straight away. If you guys could say which products are best bang for buck would be good an all.

ta.

Ow yeah any motherboard improvements? PSU's will still be the same just get the one with the power you require probably!

Havent heard good things about the 28" Hanns G, theres a thread in the monitor section of the forum.

GFX wise Nvidea are on the 260 and the 280 (the better one), 280 can play anything tho there is meant to be a revised version coming out next month.

ATI have released 2 new cards, 4850 which is pretty good and the 4870 which is between the 260 and the 280 performance wise ( there is a 4870 x2 but its very expensive at the moment, best card out at the moment tho)

Processor wise the quads are on the 9000 series which are much better than the 6000 series, altho intels new chips are out at the end of the year.

Amd's processors are pretty rubbish and well behind intels.

Hope that helps! :)

i have a 17inch Hanns G witch is a gd moniter dont no about the 28" im not that lucky allso

i have a 4850 512 meg what dose fine but if you have the money get the ati 4870
and cpus you better of waitin for the new intell chips

I've also heard bad things about that monitor such as uneven back lighting.

Gfx wise the two cards that are battling it out are the HD4870 (ati) and the GTX260 (nvidia) - see the countless threads comparing the two in the gfx forum.

Cpu - Intel released their 45nm cpus such as the E8000 series - with lots of people buying the E8500. However a lot of people are still going for the Q6600 as it still offers good performance and overclocking ability.

The E series will be dual core right? Isn't Quad core the way forward? Or are people going for higher clocked dual cores?
