A few months back a package was delivered to me (posted and not signed for) When i opened it up, it was a brand new Sony w880i on O2 network. I was a bit miffed so asked my dad (he has same initials, sometimes has things delivered to me) and he was none the wiser.

The only paper work with the phone was a sort of packing invoice, with my name and the items. I thought nothing of it and expected a letter to follow saying " theres been an error blah blah", but nothing

A few weeks later another package arrives with another phone, this time with no packing invoice. So i decided to wait some more time. It's been well over 2 months now and still nothing. I have no contact details for the company besides a faulty goods number.

Question is what to do, i've been put off the idea of using them, just incase i was asked for them back. But it seems clear this isn't going to happen.

I'm aware O2 don't lock some of their phones so could i just put my orange sim card in one of them and it will work, or will they be blocked as soon as i switch it on??

Thanks

Write to them and get them to sent a courier to pick it up, give them 28 days to do so. Sent it recorded and keep a copy yourself.

I've recieved two phones from o2 twice now when upgrading.

One time I managed to keep both and nothing got said so I flogged it on ebay, the second time I did get charged for both. If you've had nothing in two months I reckon you are pretty clear.

If you hav'nt had any letters or contact in 2 months regarding the 'other' phone, keep it. O2 obvisouly dont have a clue that its gone missing.

Have they said anything on your bill? Add extra charge on your bill or something?

If it seems like you hav'nt been charged for it, then sell it on ebay. I would try it first though with an O2 PAYG sim in there to see if they hav'nt blocked it. Afterall, its not been signed for, so all you know is that the post man could have nicked it.

Sorry but why do you insist on spelling 'haven't' incorrectly three times?! I can understand once, but three times in the same post?!

Other? There's two rogue phones, from what I read. The OP hasn't even said if they're even with O2 or whether they've just decided to send out random phones on a monthly basis.

The 'right' thing to do is probably follow the advice of send them a recorded delivery letter. Or you could just try them and see if they work - it's evidently their mistake.

You said you didn't sign for the first one but what about the second one? If you signed for neither I'd flog them on ebay and if they ever come back to you, deny receipt.

With an attitude like that, this is why products are so dear in the UK. There are many scams like that happen. Wait a few months and see what happenes before using it.

Sorry, I read it wrong. I thought that he ordered one and one turned up afterwards.

Really depending on the person, there is no 'right' or 'wrong' thing to do...

Maybe as I thought at the time, that could have been the way it would have been spelt :p

I now know, its haven't. Thanks for the correction.

I've had 3 free phones from o2, Got sent 2x T610s back in the day, 2x XDA Mini S's and recently some Samsung thing. All worked fine, screw big companies.

Im sure they will be locked to 02 if they are in 02 branded boxes. Also they may not ask for them back if they realise a mistake theyd just bar them so theyd not be much use to you.

O2 branding doesn't mean they're locked. My last phone come in an O2 branded box and had O2 screensavers and wallpapers but it was unlocked.

Presumably if businesses started taking money from your bank in error and didn't say anything, you'd be ok with that?

Weak comparison tbh.

It's hardly the same when:

a) I'd be looking after my money and keeping an eye on it, unlike they're doing with their phones
b) It would be them removing money from my bank, not me giving it to them by mistake

If you can't see the difference between the two scenarios then...well.

I had a similiar experience but related to dell PC. bought one and it's DOA and was gutted as i want to try it before going off on my holiday. Called Dell a few times and they finally agreed to collect it and send me a new one. i went on holiday the very next day and 3 weeks later I came home to discovered 2 new pc waiting for me and the faulty one has been collected. not sure what on earth happened really and i still have the second one in it's box.
