Been using OSX recently and I wish that vista could do some of the those things...

I have been using mac os x at work and I am growing to like it. I particulary like:

Being able to drag and drop images from your web browser to the dektop (i.e that is the osx way of copy, paste or save as...)

Having all of your programs minimise so that they are all visible by pressing F9.

The slick animations when closing windows, minimising

Moving your mouse to corners of the screen activates different functions (like view desktop, minimise all programs a la F9)

The dock is also a really good idea and better than the task bar.

So is there any way of bringing some of these improvements to vista?

You can do that in XP, so should be able to in Vista.

There is a view desktop quick icon in Vista too which saves having to get up to the keyboard.

All of those can be done or are implemented in Vista. Personally I prefer Vista's 3D interface to OSX's - it looks newer and more impressive.

As for the taskbar, you can get Dock programs that mimic the OSX dock. Never really seen the point though because a Dock doesn't fit into the way Windows is used - the taskbar integrates very well and makes more sense than a Dock does, in my opinion.

This is one thing that I could not stand on OS X. The dock sure is pretty to look at but it's not as good as the taskbar. If there was a way to hide all the icons so that the dock only showed the icons of running programs (until you hit a key like Alt for example) then it would be better otherwise it's just too crowded.

I know you can put your applications folder on the dock and launch them that way but the taskbar has (mostly) all the windows on the screen rather than just one button for each application. Expose is too fiddly when you want to switch between windows quickly, it takes too long for your eyes to scan all the windows and find which one you're looking for.

I just tried that in XP and I can do it, and I presume it's the same in Vista.

There's a Show Desktop command in XP and Vista. It's possible to attach it to a function key if you have a decent programmable keyboard. If not, it's just a quick click of an icon in the taskbar anyway.

Err, you want that in Vista you say? Windows Aero? Hmm?

That would annoy me, having stuff popup every time I moved close to the corners, but different strokes for different folks.

I agree, but you don't need a Mac just for that. There's tons of third party docks that are just as good. I'm using RocketDock which is superb.

You've only named one what Vista doesn't already have or can't get. :)
