Been years since I built my PC

As title says been about 5yrs or possibly more since I built my last desktop PC, I ditched PC games and bought a laptop for general internet use. However kids are older now and looking to play games on the Desktop. So......... current spec (snigger ) is an Athlon XP3000 system with 2gig of ram a noisy HD and a Nvidia 6800 all bought from here many moons ago.

Whats the low down on the lastest kit on offer? If I was upgrading I would be looking to do this in stages. Have bought a 22inch LED monitor and can reuse the tower case and probably the PSU. Very tight budget to start max £300, less if poss, can get a copy of windows 7 via student discount, so can ignore that.

Sorry for the generalisation but been out of the loop for so long and things have moved on massively

Its a Trust 500W job DVD drive is ide and so is the 80gig HD Told ya it was ancient

Would for go the GFX for now if there was something onboard decent enough? Then at a later date grab something good
