I have a laptop is giving me four beeps then its turning itself off.

Ive had a look at the fault codes - four beeps says - The system clock/timer IC has failed or there is a memory error in the first bank of memory.

Does that mean that the ram is faulty?

thanks in advance!

ok, that seems to have sorted itself out by leaving it alone for a while.

Windows boots up now, but there's no picture from the laptop's screen! The backlight is on, but there's no image. However it works if i plug in an external screen and change the output to an external screen.

Any ideas what could be up with it?

hmm, i wonder if there's a connector for the screen that's come loose. I'll take a look and see if i can work out how to open the casing around the screen.

possible a faulty stick of ram , either that or you need a new CMOS battery. it will be CR2032 or as its a lappy it could be a strange plugin jobby.
