Hey guys

I have an issue with my new build,

Here's the specs

Cougar Stx 750 psu
Msi 970a sli kraft edition motherboard
4 gb ram
Radeon HD 5970 black edition
AMD fx 8300 not overclocked and stock cooled

My issue is that every time I boot the computer it beeps every 30 seconds or so for about 2 mins then doesn't do it again

I have googled the codes and can't find anything

Any idea

Chris

Whats the pattern of beeps? I assume it does not always happen from what you said so is this from a cold boot as in turn the plug on before boot?

:Edit:

You didn't say but is the system booting ok but still beeping?

The only system fan is the cpu cooler I will be adding a nether fan tomorrow as right now the side panel is off

Its like beep wait 10 - 15 seconds beep and repeat and the computer boots fine and games fine been playing resident evil operation racoon city for about 2 hours earlier

It could be a cold boot issue, try turning off Fast Start up in the Bios.

It might be a power supply issue check to see if every thing is plugged in correctly and all the way home.

Could you borrow another PSU to try and see if the issue is still there.

This does sound like a power issue maybe if your switching on by the plug your not giving the psu enough time to fill the capacitors.

HEy Guys

have pinpointed the issue its my primary hard drive, i have backed up just incase it goes bump, can my hard drive failing take anything else out?

I am in the process of gettting a new one but wont be for a week.

Cheers

So the board was beeping as SMART was triggered glad you got to the bottom of it. No it shouldnt harm any other hardware although any data being used could be at risk.

If you need to keep using the drive and i strongly recommend against it but you can scan the drive to find the area of bad sectors and if all clumped together partition the drive removing the bad area just in case.
