When i try to boot my pc it sounds a series of beeps (1 long, 2 short). I googled this to find it means a display adaptor problem?

All i did was literally wipe some dust off the heatsinks of the CPU and GFX card with a lint free cloth and now it refuses to boot.

I removed the gfx card correctly without forcing anything but is it likely that i have somehow inadvertedly damaged the PCI-E slot or the card? Or is there another possible cause?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i have work to be done for this week and am having to get an odd 5 minutes on the sisters laptop!

Help me OcUK! Cheers, Ranek.

I took out the CMOS battery for 30 seconds as i read on another site that can help. And yes i reseated the card 3-4 times.

But now its working! i reseated it and did the CMOS battery in the same attempt so i'm not sure which worked but well, im just happy that i dont have to fork out for a new card as this ones still fairly good (7600GT).

Thanks for the advice though, panic averted.
