OK, so I've decided on a;
Phenom II x4 940 Black Edition - £190
G.Skill 4GB DDR2 PK PC2-8500C5 - £69
XFX HD4870 1GB - £190
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H AMD 790GX AM2+ - £126
I would like to go cheaper for the motherboard, and my only requirements are more than 4 SATA ports, possibly a heatpipe for better cooling and a second PCI-E x16 slot in case I decide to use my current GPU as a PhysX card or stick another HD4870 in there at some point.
Tri or Quad SLI/Crossfire does not interest me. Anyway, anyone have any suggestions or have some information I should know about in regards to any of these parts? Im particularly considering false RAM speed branding and reputedly dodgy motherboards. Ive done my research, but there's only so much a person can do before you just have to say, "screw it" and buy something.
I know the GX motherboards among the AMD790 chipsets include integrated graphics but this board has really been the only one I could find that has apprent performance and features advantages.
