Before I take the new bike in, what causes this?

The bike is about 6 months old and has always had this problem on and off. It's so inconsistent that I told Triumph I'd like to try get to the bottom of it myself before I have to give it to them for a couple of days. I need it for work so I've tried to hold on to it for as long as possible.

I finally managed to film the problem, it's difficult to explain to someone.

So before I book myself in to Triumph (the bike still has a 2 year warranty) - I'd like to see if I can diagnose and fix it myself with your help.

(To start it you need to hold the clutch in, and make sure it's in neutral - the problem occurs with the side stand up, and with the side stand down)

Any ideas?

Thank you.

There's a little cutout switch just under the clutch lever, spray it with wd40 and makesure it pops out fully as the clutch lever is pulled in

Edit: theres also a gear switch that detects when your in gear or neutral and cuts power to starter solenoid

I notice that you put the side stand in and then it works? I wonder if it is the gear detector as bikes I've had used to cut out if you put them in gear with the side stand down
