beginner need help

hey guys,

i've near over clocked before in fact this is the fact the first system i've built in like 4 years. Take a look at my sig for my specs what i would like to know is;

1. here are my current temps, i think i am running at 2.4ghz, if i overclock it what temps am i looking at?

cpu1; 41
Sys temp; 35
cpu temp; 41 (same as cpu1)
aux temp; 46
core0; 37
core1; 33
core2; 37
core3; 36

2. may seem like a stupid question but is my system capable of playing HD-DVD i intend to buy the heroes hd-dvd set, if not is it because i need a HD-DVD player. What is 720p/1080p and x264.

these cpus are fine up till around 90 degrees where they shut them seklves off as a safty measuer. It doesnt damage them and you can turn them back on again.

Idealy keep your overclocks at load between 60-80. Of corse lower is better but the higher overclockers are going to be in this region. Goign over 80 is not a problem as the pc performs the same right up untill it shuts off as a safty precaution.

1080p and 720p are resolutions. 1080 is 1900x1080 i beleive. I cant remember 720 off the top of my head.

What monitor do you have andn yes you would need a HD-DVD player or download it oto your pc and then you dont

Is that correct? Sorry to question you Bigdave, I just havn't overclocked since my old amd 3500 single core which didnt like getting anywhere near this temperature. I've got an E2200 now so I can safely run it at load over (say) 65c then?

Yeah the amd chips could be fryed a lot easyer. Yeah 65 is absolutly fine. At load mine goes to 65 i beleive
