Hi guys,

I want to get into taking some nice photographs. Ive got the standard digi cam, but im finding it a little bit poor in quality for my liking. I want to be able to take some shots to use as pictures around the house, so I wouldnt mind spending a little bit of money and getting something decent.

Ive had a look at new cameras and the 1100D looks right up my street, however ive noticed you can pick up the older 1000D for much less money second-hand. Would this be a good buy? Also what should I look out for?

A second hand camera is definitely the way to go, and if the 1000D is very cheap then it's not a bad camera. Add a 50mm prime to the mix and you'll see a dramatic increase in the image quality you'll generally be able to achieve. My only reservation would be that you could quickly outgrow the xxxxD range but if it's cheap to begin with you can't go far wrong.

i own a canon 1000d.
I've had it for over 2 years and it has served me well.
The lens i currently use are -

Canon EF-S 17-85mm IS
Canon 50mm
Canon 55-250mm IS

i'd say you can get a 1000D + 18-55mm for around £200, maybe less.
