Hi all,

Just started a job as a motion designer at a post-production company, and while I've technically been hired to do After Effects stuff, I'm interested in making use of the vast equipment repository there and learning how to shoot basic video with a Canon 5D in order to run post production on it.

Are there any resources you can recommend online to help get me started with this?

Phillip bloom stuff is good for the 5d... Vincent Laforet also done a video/ seminar/ tutorial on the 5d that's really helpful. I found watching Karl Taylor tutorials very handy. I know it's photography but Karl Taylor's tutorials on composition, and lighting techniques help with using a DSLR for video massively.

Cinema 5D forums are also a great resource... One thing that helps and inspires me are the guys from Film Riot. It's the best and most entertaining show on the net for people like you and I. It's funny, inspirational and highly informative. Find them on YouTube.

Finally video co pilot.., Andrew Kramer is an AE god. Entertaing and creative...these should help you enormously.

"Andrew Kramer here from Video Copilot Dot Com" haunts me in my sleep sometimes.

Thanks for the Film Riot tip though, seems to be good.
