I bought a set of "Prysm" blue interior bulbs the other week rated at 12v 10w but my cars manual states 5w whilst the car came with 8w one (scrappys same find) - the prysm ones were blue tinted so gave a melow feel during night time "car"ing but after a few days the blue burnt away and became...yellow. The bulb gets so hot it would scorch your finger though and they did not have any 5 or 8watt versions or any other brand. I have alos tried halfords but they also only stock clear 10watt versions.

Does anyone know of any decent brands or where I can get any decent ones that don't fade after a while?

I swapped from clear to blue because the clear is too bright for my liking. When you open the door God peeks from behind a cloud and shouts "WHO TURNED ON THE SUN!?"

:(

Have you thought about using a standard bulb and diffusing the light with a filter inside?

Interior bulbs are not usually 10w.

I used a 5w bulb in the Mondeo and it melted the bulb holder !

I stick with low voltage bulbs now. :D

The Motor World "Service staff" that approached me whilst I browsed the shelves said that japanese cars use higher rated bulbs though :|

I still think a 10W bulb is likely to get a bit warm for the bulb holder and surrounding plastic dash.

Yeah that's what I meant sorry - the 10w bulb melted but the 5 and 8 watt ones that come with the honda is fine :/

12v - probably, but due to the nature of LEDs a 5w one would be silly bright :p

I was gonna say LEDs aswell but wasnt sure if they fit.
Just to clear things up for me, is the bulb u mean the one thats on the roof of the car that turns on when u open a door?
And if so can u get LEDs that fit there :o

WOO! out of frusration no being able to find the right size and wattage in bulb ot led format (sorry missed the above link as didnt check thread in morning!) I decided to buy the next size up and do some manual DIY (read: bend the clips with (pliers "making" the bulb fit :p)
