Behind on the times - spec me an upgrade ~1000

I must admit I haven't really been keeping up with things hardware-wise. Very soon I'll be looking to upgrade my present machine mostly for gaming at 1920x1200.

Current specs are

E6600
4870
5GB RAM
3 x HDD
650w PSU Corsair

Basically I am looking to upgrade to i7. I don't need a new case, am not looking to change the PSU and am not really looking for an OS either [I will uninstall it off the old one]. I want at least one SSD.

These are my thoughts - any improvements welcome. Will also add Arctic 7 when they come back in stock.

Do you necceseryly need the blue ray writer? You could get anothe SSD if you really want with that money and then buy a DVD RW. Other than that looks good.

Hmm, I suppose I don't plan to do much writing. A Blu Ray ROM would be fine.

Any more thoughts?

all you really lose is SATA and USb3.0

Looks like a nice upgrade with the suggestions above and you should get a fair bit for your old stuff (stick it on the MM ).
