Hi folks,

A friends giving me his 560's (x 2 in SLI) after upgrading to a 970, just want to know how cheaply I can get away with upgrading the rest of my gear.

Currently running a Athlon X4 955, GTX 460 and 4gb RAM (not sure of mobo brand/model).

Would it be worth upgrading to a cheap i5 (4440?) Or AMD 6300/8320. I've only got around £100-200 to spend really.

Also, currently running 32bit windows 8.1 - how easy/hard is it to upgrade to 64bit?

Cheers in advance,
Joe

It sounds like it might be worth selling your PC, selling the GTX560's, and adding the proceeds to your budget, then starting from scratch.

560 SLI isn't going to be especially overpowered for a X4 Athlon 955 (Phenom, presumably?). And they're worth about £40-£50 for the pair, so I wouldn't invest too much elsewhere in the rig.

Thanks guys, selling it all up isn't really an option.

My rig is now falling below the minimum requirement to play some games I want... I was hoping with a new mobo/cpu/ram bundle it'd last me for a while with the two 560s. I can't afford to spend £200 on a GPU alone.

We need to know what PSU you have too. In case it isn't beefy enough to handle 2 GPU's.

Your current mobo only supports Crossfire, so you'll deffo need a new board if you plan on using the 560's in SLI.

What about the psu? Which one do you have? Be aware that being B-grade that could just be the bare board with no accessories at all, not even a I/O shield.

Will report back on PSU this eve, would someone be able to point me in the direction of a good, reliable PSU that will support 2 x 560's and all the other gubbins but won't cost me the earth?

Ta.

Cheers Stulid, yeah I think they're regular - not Ti.

Are there any fully modular ones you'd suggest for a bit more?
