Being sent an EOL product as a replacement...

Keep quiet and be very pleased. the GTX 670 is far faster, quieter, better with power consumption e.t.c e.t.c

You're lucky they didn't give you a cash equivalent, minus usage. That's what happened when my MSI mobo packed up a couple of years ago. Cost me around £90 and I got back around £50, which of course wouldn't buy a new equivalent mobo. Not a happy bunny experience. All totally legal as well.

Brilliant exchange. Based on performance they could have sent a GTX 660, as a factory overclock on that would beat a 580.

exactly. Suprised the OP didnt get a 660 or 660ti. Even a 660ti would have been an upgrade. A 670 is amazing.

OP, I can only assume you are finding the CGI course really intense and have no brain cycles left, which lead you to ask such a stupid, and obvious question! :D In answer to your original post, yes it is right, its also very generous and you should probably send them a thankyou ! :D

Good luck with your course.

IMHO if your GFX died within warranty and they dont have a similar card they should match the dead one based off the price and not performance. Like having your Bentley die but giving you a small Porsche that cost half but hey...its faster. It just doesnt add up.

They're perfectly allowed to send a different model replacement that is equivalent in performance, instead they've sent one that is miles better. You'd be lucky to get over £100 for a used 580.

Not that good a comparison, speed/acceleration is only one factor when choosing a car - and for a lot of people not even much of a consideration. The primary point of a GPU is performance and everything else shouldn't be more than an afterthought.

That's very good customer service. You would have only got another EOL product back anyway, if you got another 580... so the thread confuses me.

Great upgrade, I would be epically chuffed, and happy to give them repeat business with that!
