I'm thinking of buying a new widescreen monitor, and thought that would either be the Belinea 102030W, or the NEC MultiSync LCD20WGX2 but can't decide which.

I use my PC for gaming and hence would like a monitor capable of delivering a very good picture, from real time strategy games to fast first person shooters.

The two monitors above seem to have received a good press, however if anyone has alternative suggestions I'd be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

I prefer my CRT for gaming but when it comes to LCDs its no contest here the NEC is superior.

Thanks for the replies.

I have an Iiyama VM Pro 454, CRT, right now which is great for fast FPS, but I play MMORPG's too and would like a widescreen for this.

Looks like the NEC is the one to go with.

tbh i've used the NEC 19 GX2 which is near enough the same monitor, and compared to a crt i can't really notice a big difference in gaming! (i play cs 1.6 and our sponsor has given us 5 of these monitors) however i can notice a slight delay and i mean it is absolutely tiny but just enough, so IMO if you are a high level competitive gamer (i.e. compete at a lot of big lans for money) then i would stick with a crt, if your just the average hardcore online gamer i would get the NEC tft does a excellent job, im sure hte bilinea is more than competant aswell!

Ya the NEC is very nice its just im so used to the framerate fluidness of a CRT which the NEC doesnt quite pull off as well, and as you mentioned there is a slight input lag but to the naked eye its hardly noticable (I took pictures showing the delay, 13ms delay and 33ms delay), also the black levels on the LCD are questionable when playing games at night or watching movies, but during the day black levels looks pretty good especially for an LCD.
I currently have the NEC LCD and FW900 CRT side by side so Im basing my opinions on direct comparisons.

But when it comes to web browsing & text work the LCD is top notch (main reason I kept it).

Reason I say NEC is because of the opticlear it possesses. Which is a glossy, finish on the glass - something a lot of most TFT's lack. Having said that, there is absolutely nothing wrong with going with the average TFT, I just am biased towards the glossy finish after seeing them used for laptops at pc world. It just reminds me of a CRT a lot, and the colour and definition seems eye catching especially when you see them playing games and DVD's.
