Has anyone bought one of these? If so how are you finding it? Is today the last day for it to be ordered in the "This Week Only" deal?

thanks

Its a very fine screen indeed, but do note that DVI is abit odd on ati cards in that you cant see the bios/post screens and have to wait untill windows is loaded. All is fine on vga though and in all honesty I cant notie any difference at all between the images displayed via vga and dvi.

Thanks for that. My card is a Radeon 9800 pro. An oldie I know but its ok for me at the moment. Will it be ok for this monitor? I do some gaming but not over fussy as to super duper graphics. Do you think its worth the extra money over the Hanns-G HW191D? Sorry for the questions if they are a bit daft.

thanks

the 9800 will happily run the monitor at its native res of 1680x1050 for windows use but for games i think thats abit much to expect from a 9800 so lower res modes will be requied which will make the monitor have to use its hardware scalingto make the games fill the screen. The scaling is by no means bad however, just dont use anything other then native for desktop use ;)

The smaller 19" monitor may be best suited for the 9800 but for the price i think its best to get the bigger screen now and enjoy and high screen res when you one day upgrade to a faster gfx card.

Thanks again. One more question, is tomorrow the last day to order on the deal price or is it today? Just trying to avoid it on this months cc card bill. Tempted now to buy the BFG 3DFuzion card, or as I'm a tight git the OcUK GeForce 7300 GT.

thanks

is the only difference between this model and the Belinea 102030W just the addition of a DVI-D input.. is that worth the extra cost?

AFAIK - Yup - because of the import tax applied to monitors specifically with DVI inputs manufactured outside the EU (and then imported in to the EU), Belinea opted to release the same model without a DVI input to keep the overall price of the unit down. So you pay less for not having the DVI input and less because there's no import tax.

Now, was that decision made by Belinea because they wanted to provide an affordable version of their product for the benefit of the consumer or because they were just worried about the profits?? Either way, it's a worthy purchase if you're not worried about the extra input.

Whether it's worth it or not depends on your requirements and expectations. A DVI input will generally provide a better image quality as there is no digital-analogue and then analogue-digital conversion occuring. It's a straight throughput of a digital signal from your graphics card - so no signal degredation. Colours tend to appear more vivid and brightness tends to be better balanced.

Also, if like me you have an xbox360, it's useful to have the second input to save changing cables over - PC to DVI and x360 to VGA. Can switch between the two easily and allows me to play on the x360 while stuff is downloading on the PC.

I guess it comes down to how happy you are with a standard VGA input from your PC. If you use VGA now and have a TFT screen already, it's unlikely you will notice any major differences. However, having used DVI for my PC since I built it, I wouldn't go back to VGA. But it's a personal choice.

Hope that helps.

Well its only an extra 17 quid so I might as well get the one with the DVI-D Input. I have a DVI-VGA adapter. So does this mean I will not need to buy a DVI cable?

thanks

Very grateful to all who answered my questions. I've decided to order one tomorrow. Don't think I'll get it delivered tomorrow if I order now. :(
Fingers crossed no dead pixels.

thanks again

The bel is a very nice screen indeed. Lovely and clear and well built too. Early models like the one I have suffered from a lot of backlight bleeding but I'm sure it's been rectified now. You'll hardly notice it on say a console, but its more apparent on windows.

Well I have had this for a couple of weeks now. I ordered it and it arrived at 11.45 the next day. Great service. Easy to set up. I am VERY pleased with it. I would say this is one of the best pc-related buys I have ever made. I'm not as technically minded as a lot ot the peeps on here, so I will not give fps and all that malarkey. So this is just "ordinary bloke" review. I've not noticed any dead pixels. I've not run any software to detect any. If I did and found any then my eyes would probably be drawn straight to them. I do have perfect vision BTW. The only games I have played so far are FIFA 06 and Oblivion, which look great. I've also watched a few DVDs and the new series of The Sopranos. This has all been done with an old Radeon 9800pro (don't laugh) and also the analogue output. Will using a DVI-D cable be even better? As for the cable do I need an extension cable which is male to female, or a male to male cable?

thanks.
