Hey all,

I have the Belinia 1925S1W 19" Widescreen LCD and have been incredibly happy with it since purchase. But over the last couple of months I have noticed a slight ghosting of everything on the screen, its like a permanent drop shadow just to the right of everything. It's particularly noticeable when it's black text on white background. I have tried messing with the monitor settings on both the panel and windows but with no luck. It was there in XP and it's there in Vista too.

Any ideas? Is it faulty? Or are my eyes on the way out? :)

Thanks

Russ

These Belinea's all do it, all it needs is a bit of adjusting.

I have two of them and when I got them, they were both doing it... but now they're crisp as anything. When they go crisp you'll feel your eyes make a sigh of relief! It's just like " woah thats so crisp! " because your eyes have gotten used to slight blurriness/ghosting :p

Anyhoo try (on the monitor) going to menu, then press >, then press menu again to get to AUTO ADJUSTMENT. Make sure you are running a full desktop with no black around the edges. Now press Menu again and it'll auto-adjust.

Hopefully that will have sorted your problem. It did on one of mine, but not on the other - but i found doing this worked:

In your graphics drivers, go to something that's display positioning (in nVidias latest drivers it says Move CRT Position or something - it's supposed to be for CRT monitors) then just move it up or down. The screen will turn off for a second as it tries to re-adjust. If this doesnt work, try the above again after doing this.

Let me know if that worked :)

Also, try using your display drivers "Display configuration wizard" and "colour configuration wizard", etc. Run all the relevant wizards basically ;) To make sure it's set up right.

Nope none worked. Couldn't find the CRT position options in the Nvidia control panel (using 100.65 drivers on Vista)

Ok now this is going to sound weird, but it's true.

After all of the above failed I went to the Belinea site to see about RMA. I found a page that checked warranty status by serial number. I stood up and tilted the screen forward at about a 45 degree angle to see the sticker on the back for a few seconds. When I put it upright again the picture was perfect...and still is, although for how long I don't know.

Any ideas?!

You'll probably find that by tilting the monitor you wobbled the cable going into the monitor :p Maybe it wasn't plugged in 100% properly?

I've just noticed this issue myself atm. Mainly with a white text on black background in irc again a drop shadow to the right as mentioned above. I'll try reconnect the monitor tomorrow to see if its resolves the issue.

If this does not resolve the issue what is my recourse then? rma or is just how things go with lcd's?

If something doesn't work properly, it's broken. IMO, NEVER put up with something :p You pay for something, it should work properly!

Try the auto thingy mentioned above, but otherwise, RMA is your best bet :)

When your screen has odd things showing, 9 chances out of 10 it's connected with your VGA / DVI cable. Always check your cable first - I thought that was the logical thing to do ;)

Hell, at work one of our screens went green while I was home ill for a week and they had called the IT service company and they had actually concluded it was the graphics card. So on monday I come to work, find the green screen, wobble the vga cable a bit, putting it deeper into the slot, and bingo, no more green. Collegues arrive and go "oh did they send the new graphics card already?" "What graphics card? It was just a loose cable". So yeah, ... just check the cable ;).

red_avatar is spot on. I had exactly the same thing happen on a CRT. (Iiyama PRO 512) I have two, my girlfriends one has always had more ghosting than mine. So one day out of curiosity I swapped over the cables (and adaptor blocks) and hey presto mine than had more ghosting than hers!

Unfortunately this was a while ago & I can't remember if it was the cable or the adaptor block which was causing the problem (may have been the block?) So if you have a cheap looking VGA cable or adaptor block (as hers was) it may be worth investing in a better quality one. ;)
