Hi there

The Belinea, BenQ and Philips 20" LCD's are all on special from OcUK at £279.95 +VAT each. Fair enough the Belinea is at its normal price but the BenQ and Philips are on This Week Only at massive discounts.

These are the 3 favourite panels in the market along with the NEC and Viewsonic models.

I hope you'd all agree that our 20" range is the best on the web and our prices are competitive if not the best. :)

BenQ FP202W = TN Film
Belinea 102035W = P-MVA
Philips = Either IPS or P-MVA, not confirmed, but likely to be IPS
NEC = AS-IPS

well that's a tough call. The BenQ FP202W is based on a TN Film panel and offers some decent responsiveness because of this. However, it is no where near an all rounder as the other models. The Belinea 102035W is a good screen and is effectively a larger version of the very popular and well established Viewsonic VP930. Good responsiveness, and good all round performance. The Philips 200W6CS is certainly good on spec, and early reports from users on OcUK are promising. We are still unsure if it is using the same panel as the Belinea (spec suggests so) or whether it's using a new wave of IPS panel from LG.Philips (which would make sense being a Philips screen). The spec is confusing here and there's been no full clarification from Philips about this. No full reviews either so i'd personally reserve judgement for a while. The NEC is very new and early reports including BeHardware's review are excellent. The comments suggest it is about as fast as you can get from a TFT right now, and rivals even the fastest 2ms TN panels (Viewsonic VX922) which is truly impressive. This could very well be the best screen to go for right now, for all purposes, including one of the best for gaming in the market. However, it is very new and i'd like to see more user comments from members here, and also more reviews from pro review sites before we know for sure how it stands....

Oh nuts ! That's a massive saving, I've never seen anything so big on OcUK.

I bought my Philips for £350, and at this reduced price people would be simply mad not to.

the only thing i could find on it was a short statement on "IPS is back at the TN an VA level".

Episode 5: 2006, IPS goes down to 6 ms and targets gamers

Nec releases this month the first monitor equipped with a 6ms response time AS-IPS panel. Nec also breaks the myth of ISP monitors' constant response time between greys. It is of 6 ms between greys and 12 ms from black to white (ISO norm).

The monitor released, the LCD20WGX², is very pleasant on paper:
- fast response time (6 ms, we remind you that our eyes don't see differences between TN 6/4/3 and 2 ms)
- 16.7 true million of colors (TN are at 16.2)
- 700:1 contrast ratio capable of going up to 1600:1 with Advanced DVM technology, automatic brightness adaptation of the content in real time (according to Nec)
- 470 cd/m² brightness. It is much too elevated. Let's hope that Nec's standard adjustment will be lower and that it is a maximum value and not the one that is chosen when the monitor is switched on.
- 4 ports USB Hub
- 16/10 panel, resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels
- wider viewing angles than VA and TN panels
- Nec also told us about the release of a new international sRGB standard of calibration and constant reproduction of colors.

The price: 670 € (VAT included). It is more expensive than 8ms VA monitors but it is the first one of the kind. Now we have to wait and see what the performance will be during tests. If we trust the characteristics, it should display good colors, stable and its viewing angles would be the widest of all LCDs. Is it the TN and VA killer? Just for the fun, let's hope that it is!

Is this the same "review" you referred to - or did you find something more in-depth?

Either way - it looks good - thats why I'm interested to read more :)

Ive just decided to go for a widescreen monitor over a new hdtv, I mainly want it to use for gaming and 360 use and will probably end up with one of these 3, Could someone Please give me the actual dimensions of the viewable area of a 20'' widescreen just so i can get an idea of what it would be like compared to my 19''tft.

thanks
