Laptop in question:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=LT-000-BE

The possibility of getting a Macbook Pro is becoming increasingly less likely at the moment. I'm at Uni. and would like to have a laptop that I can do essays on, some photoshop work and possibly video-editing if I can pull myself away from FCP on the Uni. Macs (in the library, on the train etc.). The price and graphics seem to fit my budget and needs, I just wanted to get a verdict on how liberating having a laptop will actually be. As I have a good desktop in my room I'm a bit wary about the laptop soon enough just not being used. Also any good reviews or horror stories on the laptop itself.

Cheers

Looks ok to me, but you can get major brand laptops with that sort of spec for that sort of money so i would be inclined to go that way. Then spend a couple of pounds on an extra gig or two of ram, and it will be fine for a little bit of photo editing. You will find that graphics in a lot of intel based laptops, the X3100 won't lite much on fire - not that this is 'too' important when it comes to graphics.

I would personally be looking for a Toshiba/HP laptop with the same specs at this price. :)
