Belkin 54g network issues

Well my brother rang me yesterday saying that the wireless network I set up some 2/3 years ago without any problems has suddenly died to all devices previously connected to it.

His description is that the network is discoverable but has 0 signal and is now unsecured. Apparently a new unsecured network called Belkin 54g has appeared but this only has local connectivity. The router is connected to a virgin media modem providing 20mb broadband, send and receive lights are working and the router shows that it is connected to the Internet.

Without knowing too much about routers and being 100 miles away from it I was wondering if anyone knew some idiot proof advice for him to either diagnose the problem or solve it

Sounds like a dead device. Can he access the web interface of the access point using a wired connection?

Probably but I didn't want him to try without me being there he's a bit technophobic. Il try and get him to find the router ip and access it through wired connection. Best thing to do is try a manual reset and then set up a new network?

You said the factory reset didn't work?

Accessing the web interface would give a good idea as to whether the device is dead or alive.
