Hi folks. I got this wireless adapter about a 2 years ago with a Belkin N router. F5D8356ukV4 router (I think). Anyway I got a new PC on September 22nd 2009 and had Vista 64 Home Premium. The CD contains both XP and Vista 32 and 64 bit drivers. I couldn't use the disc so instead downloaded the drivers from Belkin's website.
Now however, on Window 7 64bit Home Premium, I've been using since it came out (upgrade for free from Vista) I've noticed since I installed my adapter (XP disc worked this time) I had it on either 32 bit or 64 bit Vista drivers. Whenever I went into the wireless adapter properties there were only like 4 options. Useless ones at that. Anyway reinstalled it today but this time choosing XP64 and WOAH a huge list of variable stuff has appeared which is what I was hoping for.
I use this PC for gaming and I use the Wireless N USB Adapter to play things like MW2 and BC2 Beta online. I was wondering out of the following properties, what would get me maximum throughput. I am currently on 150mbps, on hybrid, so other G systems can connect to my N router. But my PC is obviously on N. I feel this may lower the transfer speed whereas maybe it could reach 180mbps-300mbps? Even if it can't I'd like the best options set for maximum performance on Hybrid. (b/g/n 20/40Mhz 2.4ghz)
I have 2 antenna selected, 11 and a extension channel of 7, the router is N MiMo. 20/40Mhz mode due to hybrid. WMM is on, and wireless protection for B and G is off. DHCP is on, UPNP is on, WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AEP protection is on and the router firewall is enabled.
These are the settings on my wireless N USB adapter. Which would get me the best throughput and be best for split second action in multiplayer games like MW2? I changed a few. I know APSD is something to do with power... which I don't need enabled. I assume allowBW40inBGband is needed. I changed Auto Channel Select to ON, I changed BG protection to OFF. Frame aggregation I changed to ON, and I left the other stuff. I will put the default values next to the list.
AC_BE support APSD - disabled
AC_BK support APSD - disabled
AC_VI support APSD - disabled
AC_VO support APSD - diabled
AllowBW40InBGBand - disabled
APSD Capable - disabled
Auto Channel Select - disabled
Auto Reconnect Mode - enabled
B/G Protection - enabled
CAM when AC Power - disabled
Country Region - 11A Ch(36 - 64, 149 - 165)
Country Region 11G - (Channel 1-11)
DLS Capable - disabled
Fragment Threshold - 2346
Frame Aggregation - disabled
IEEE802.11h - disabled
Local Administration MAC Network Ad????? (cant see the rest) BLANK - Fill with Wireless Adapter MAC?
Max Server Period Length - 0
Network Type - Infrastructure
Power Saving Mode - CAM (Constantly Awake Mode)
PSP Xlink Mode - Disabled
Radio On/Off - Enabled
RDG - enabled
RTS Threshold - 2347
WMM Capable - Enabled
Thanks - I'd just like the best performance from the adapter in Windows 7. It's using the 64 bit drivers as well. So you know, my signal is Excellent 99% of the time.
