Hello, I have a Belkin F5D5231-4 4 port Cable router, it's kinda old now, but it was working fine, I never had this problem before but ever since I reset the router by holding in the reset button, every few hours the router just stops loading sites, or allowing my pc any connection at all, like it just suddenly decides to stop sending data, no lights go out, nothing turns off, the router just refuses to communicate anymore until I reboot the router, and then it works fine again, any help or fixes for this problem would be greatly appreciated, many thanks :)

Sounds like the router is freezing (overheating?). Can't be too sure but check make sure it's not overheating.

Do you know anyone with a spare router to try?

Give the router a good dusting and blow into the vents to clear any obstruction. Then make sure your router is sat somewhere with good airflow all around it - ie on a shelf or desk. Make sure it is no where near anything with strong electric or magnetic fields, so keep it away from speakers and power cables.

I had a Belkin router and it used to do the same thing. After doing all the above it never happened again.

Well blowing out the vents/the parts on the router seems to have helped a lil, it's delayed the periods between how long it needs to be rebooted, around about once or twice a day now, but it still hasnt totally fixed the problem ;( :p but thanks for your help anyway ;p

A friend gave me his to test with the same problem. I switched the channel and haven't had any problems with it. I was thinking it was WiFi interference and the channel switch fixed it. Perhaps I have it somewhere cooler? Hes just after decorating though and it is dusty.
