Hi,

Have a friend with a NTL/Virgin Media connection and a Belkin Wireless router, with the NTL box plugged into the router via ethernet.

This worked fine up until now, as I had to reset the router as they lost their password and WEP keys.

Trying to set this up, and after talking to Technical support it did not help.

I am going to Connection settings > Dynamic > Hostname?? Does anyone have a clue what the hostname is for NTL/Virgin media.

Technical support said "ntl" without quotes, which did not work.

Or am I using the wrong connection type?

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

if it's cable, you shouldn't need to alter any settings on the router(bar password, wireless encryption etc) for it to work. Switch both off, turn the modem on then the router, make sure the cable from the modem to the router is in the wan port.

Then log into the router and see if it's getting an ip from virgin

After resetting the router to default, setting password and plugging everything together, was just getting

Internet Connection: NOT AVAILABLE (top right hand corner)

So i obviously need to configure one of the available settings for it to work. I dont personally use NTL, are the set top boxes/modems permanently connected - as in no user/pass needed?

Thanks

Did it come with a CD to setup the connection?

If youve reset it you may need to have the router connected via ethernet in order to configure the wireless connection

switch everything off. turn on modem and wait for it to sync. Turn on router and wait for it to to boot. Turn on PC and just log into the router for the wireless settings. The router does not need any settings to connect to NTL/Virgin. If you have been playing with the settings of the router then try a factory reset of the router before trying again.
