Belkin Wireless Router dropping the connection.

My Belkin ADSL wirelss router keeps dropping our connection randomly, if you unplug the thing, then plug it back in it works fine. I am on a BT ADSL line. It's not the ISP, apparently.

Also, the wirless to my laptop takes ages to connect for some reason and that drops too, sometimes not connecting again. I can always see the connection in my networks, the wep key is fine, it just won't connect, it's very random.

Someone suggestted it was the microfilter degrading but I have one of the wall mounted units that splits the adsl and the telephone, so I'm not convinced, also that doesn't sugest why the wirless would drop.

Any ideas?

If its a belkin 7633 there brilliant at holding on to a bad line, my belkin has been losing synch like mad for the last 3 weeks, it was fine for the year before, also tried my netgear and various microfilters, that was same, hence why a bt man is due any minute to check my line over.

Allways helps when you have a spare router to test.

Mine does this too, every hour or so it drops the connection and requires a restart

Luckily we have cat5 cabling built into the house so I just use the ports on the back which work fine and dont drop out ever.

Yeah our Belkin router is pretty rubbish too. It randomly refuses to let my laptop connect to the internet, and it misbehaves whenever my housemate's girlfriend turns her MacBook on. Stupid thing, can't wait till we're rid of it and got a Netgear one instead.

Im using Belkin N1 ADSL Wireless Router (F5D86431uk4a) and plugged Cat6 and plugged into my dad with Cat5E as we shared -- seem great and havent drop any speed since I bought it.

My belkin needs something like MSN signed in to keep the connection alive. If the connection lies idle for too long it disconnects :/

Makes no difference on mine, I spoke to someone 'in the know' about it on another forum a while back and he basically said that Belkin wireless are poo !

Probably worth mentioning that the connection drops off whether using a Belkin wireless USB adapter (on a desktop) or on on my laptop with its built in wireless jobby. The laptop will connect to other makes of router and happily stay connected indefinately so its definately a problem with some of the belkin products and how there wireless works.

Oh and we have cable broadband so no filters :)

Would be interested to know if anyone has ever found a fix for this as it would be nice to have a reliable wireless connection without buying a different router.

My connection used to drop. When I clicked disable on the Internet icon (once it had dropped), it froze (the icon) and the only way to un freeze it and re open the connection was to restart.
But somewhere along the line it sorted itself out and hasn't done it for about a year now, so touch wood, its sorted itself out.
