Hi
I have following system:
*Asus P5N32 sli plus Mobo
*2 x 1gb Corsair Dominator ddr2
1 x 2gb Kingston Hyper ddr2
Q6850 3 ghz
*2 x Palit Sonic 1GB GTX 460 in SLI

I ran 3dmark vantage a number of times and it scores higher when I take the 2gg Kingston stick out, faster framerates etc with 2gb rather than 4?
It also says that it has a relative low score.
Is the CPU a bottleneck too?
Any help would be appreciated
cheers

With the 2 x 1GB fitted your memory is running in dual channel mode.

Adding the 2GB stick reduces your memory to single channel mode because there'd an odd, rather than even, number of sticks fitted.

Adding the 2GB stick gives you more physical memory but reduced memory bandwidth.

You would ideally need to add 2 x 2gb memory modules which I believe you would continue running dual channel mode.

But you may need to increase your MCH voltage (Northbridge controller)

I assume he means adding another 2GB stick to the 2GB stick he already has giving him 2 x 1GB and 2 x 2GB.

That's great, thanks for the reply. So I guess if I add another 2gb module in the empty slot, this will even it out?

cheers

You'll need to get another 2GB stick which matches as closely as possible the sticks you already have in terms of speed, timings and voltage.

You'll also need to have a 64bit operating system to make use of the extra 2GB.
