I did one or two benchmarks on my 5850. Furmark is giving me well over double score from my 4870 which is good, so the card is definitely working properly.

However,

Crysis - HD4870 was giving me min fps 26.31, max fps 43.76, avg fps 37.16
HD5850 - min fps 25.50, max fps 61.93, avg fps 44,53

avg fps is 7 more, and min fps is less. Does that seem right?

F1 2010, benchmark test built in, settings on high. This is odd, it's giving me 42fps avg which is about the same as my 4870, and that gave me anywhere between 41 and 45fps.

Your cpu is bottlenecking the card perhaps....

I was thinking that. Even so, wouldn't a 5850 still give a bigger fps score in F1 2010 than my previous card, or is the game almost completely cpu intensive? Crysis is at least showing some sign of extra framerate.

Could it be that F1 2010 is now using DX11 and that if it was using DX10 as with my 4870, I'd see a greater fps?

hmm, my hardware settings config for F1 says 'directx forcedx9="true"/>' so it's not even using DX11.
