Benchmarks, AVP and 5870

Recently purchased AVP simply becuase it was cheap and I wanted to see what this DX11 fuss was about and to give my new 2 month old 5870 a work out.

From benchmarks I checked before playing the game, I got the impression that at 1920x1200 with all the bells and whistle on, the card would suffer but it should be able to squeeze around 30fps.

Additionally from benchmarks I got the impression the 470 would out perform the 5870 expecially with tesselation on.

Well, having only played the game for about 1hr today, I put all the settings max, dx11 with tesselation on etc... and the 5870 doesnt break a sweat, I havent verified how many fps Im getting, but the card, is finding the game too easy a challenge...

My system is:

QX9650 @ 3.7ghz
4gb 800mhz ram
5870 2gb stock
x48 Asus mobo

I have lost faith with benchmark websites.

They differer from website to website ect... and some spin the truth or just give inaccurate results.

Any comments..

Additionally the game is quite good...

A bit like Doom 3 but with Dx11 features, and aliens instead of demons....

a lot of the benchmarks were done when the 5870 was quite a new card, and as such the drivers werent the best.

If you are using the latest drivers then there is probably an improvement over what the original benchmarkers were getting months ago.

Saying that, the 5870 is a high-end piece of kit so I would be seriously p'eed off if it couldnt handle maximum detail on current games!!!

yeah my 5870 nails this game. dont think its a very good game though
