Ironically.. the dealership has possibly fixed it.

Just as my employer has literally said.. we need to just reject this now

Ive filled him in on the latest technical report which I got today, they're also needing to road test it before they consider giving it me back.

Ive put across the point to them ive lost faith in its reliability and would still like to pursue a contract exit, I am however also making initial legal enquiries as well as speaking to the BVRLA in view if I receive a sudden final position that they can look into it also.

That is a totally understandable position.

The ironic thing is that if you do manage to get out of that car it will land as an approved used purchase within hours for another unsuspecting buyer to pick up. Same with the likes of Mr Rockliffes ID7 and numerous others we've heard about on here. It just makes me extremely wary of used cars now, especially anything that looks like it hasn't been through the full three year finance cycle before coming back up for sale.
 
Information is with everyone this morning. Confirmed the information this morning was received by the fleet company.

Still waiting on the dealer to confirm whether things have been successful.

It was charged to 100% over the weekend and its now back on charge again so wonder if something else has happened as its not been driven.. and they're seemingly doing some other bits with it.

so this is the first time you have had the car back , even though they didn't fix it internally in one bite -
had they supplied an acceptable loaner in the meantime.

Fixed, internally, over nearly 3 months. Yes I had a loaner but this car has 7000mi on the clock, 3 major component repaired and it wasn't functioning until today..

Which brings me to the next bit of the saga.

So fleet and my work were looking at walking away because ultimately the vehicle was repaired.

Went to the dealer, annoyed but with an open mind... put all my car seats and belongings back in, drove off, went to overtake a car and the gearbox completely freaks out and sits thrashing the rev limit at around 55-60mph, wouldn't change up (which is great when you're overtaking!) Stuck with an open mind, found a side road and attempted to replicate, managed to do it again a few times till I convinced myself I wasnt going mad, did it with the dealer when I got them on the phone.

So, again its back at the dealer, told them its a safety issue at this point because if that happened whilst trying to join the motorway or an A Road it could put me and other road users at risk if the engine just let's go.

Re-escalated and hoping this will be the nail in the coffin now.

That should be the end of this saga. They obviously didn't test drive it and were desperate to get it back in your hands to remove the pressure from upstream. Time to dump this lemon!
 
It's more worrying that head office aren't picking up on these sorts of things. Stuff goes wrong on cars all the time and no-one higher up is going to be interested in the individual repair. But you'd be thinking their systems would be flagging it up that it's been in for multiple repairs in a very short window and still hasn't been repaired.

It's these sorts of cases that really reflect the quality of customer care you get.
 
It's been gone for 3 months - but yes, sounds like a nail in the coffin/2ndrepair if it has then failed on maiden voyage ;

( could excuse newbie chinese mftrs for long supply lines for fixes, but hynudai should be better - maybe Hormuz has messed up some lines )
 
My work have escalated today and yesterday basically telling the fleet company to bin the car. Not sure how it will go down but! Im hopeful.

Fingers crossed for you!

I've been hearing so many bad things about Hyundai and KIA's newer models recently.

It seems so hard to find a decent all rounder these days! My Vauxhall was slapped together, rattles, has software glitches, paint issues... but mechanically has been perfect so far (only 42k miles so plenty of time for that to change). I've been in colleagues cars that are so much better built and have impressed me compared to my car only to hear a few weeks later that something major has failed and that it is with the dealership for an unknown amount of time.

I mean, if I have to choose I'll take mechanical reliability every day of the week over build quality but we shouldn't have to choose!

I know mate.

My Volvo is 13 years old, my motorcycle is 23 years old.

My motorcycle looks nearly new despite probably heading towards 50k on it and it's never once had an issue.

I've had a few minor things on my Volvo, but it's otherwise solid, that has just gone over 75k now.

I'm hoping they last forever as I'm absolutely dreading having to navigate that minefield of more modern cars.

Honestly if you could buy a brand newly made mid 2000 year car id just buy that instead. I don't give a **** about all the modern stuff they put on cars, just over engineered to go wrong.

Dealer has done no work or testing.

Im going to wait for further movement on Monday, if not decision is made I need to consider if I need to spice up my attitude a bit
 
Things have potentially turned for the better.

Dealer has yet to begin work, as of this afternoon when i spoke to the lease company they've said they're just waiting on a final email to start the rejection process so hopefully we're on the home straight!
 
All resting now with the original supplying retailer. Should hopefully have a final decision shortly.
