Benefits of a Home Theatre PC (HTPC)?

Hello,

I've been thinking for a while about building a Home Theatre PC but am not sure whether it would be worth it as I've already got freeview, cable TV and a DVD/hard drive recorder.

Can anyone explain what the benefits of building a HTPC would be. Although I'd quite like to get one it's looking difficult for me to justify spending the money at the moment.

Looks like I'll give it a miss for the time being. The kit I've already got should be fine for my needs at present. Maybe when the next upgrade time comes around I'll think about building a HTPC from some of my old stuff
