Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

You can just imagine SAF having a massive grin on his face watching Rafa's nervous unstable outburst :p

I love how he says that Fergal got fined and banned for talking to Mike Dean after the Hull match, then goes on to claim that Fergal is never punished for his verbal attacks on referees.

"Hee eees the onleeee one the can get away with theeees"

I had to read the text while I watched the video :D

I wish they'd both just pack it in and concentrate on playing football.

It's like schoolground name-calling.

You can't seriously tell me that it was a just punishment for him? £10k and a couple of games? IMHO Man U get away with an awful lot. We're talking all around the game (i.e. ghost goals that are never given against them, the clock watching farce, players trying to kick the heads of fans and then getting a few months ban where as if it had been any other club it would have been a lifetime ban and his blatant disregard for everything that may hinder man u).

IMHO Rafa is pretty much spot on. As he said he was dealing in facts;

don't know who you support but has your team never had a goal that should have stood wrongly disallowed or not given against them? no other decisions gone your way? penalties given that shouldn't have been?
Now what's a typical touchline ban and fine for a premiership manager speaking out of turn? was that punishment disproportionately less than what other premiership managers get? The Cantona incident happened about 13 years ago? so are we not setting a time limit on our points? as i think i could look back into the history of any club and find an unfortunate incident. United do get away with a lot, as do all the top 4 clubs in england, and throughout europe. we also get made an example of occasionally. If ferguson did have the huge influence with referees, other managers, the FA and the media that some conspiracy theorists like to make out then Benitez really would be shafted before he began on this one.

Rafa's body language tells its own story

Dr Karl Morris, a leading sports psychologist who has worked with Andrew Flintoff, examines the five key areas of Rafael Benitez’s broadside.

THE NOTES

The fact that Benitez has got chapter and verse written down shows that he is so wound up that he is determined to get everything off his chest. Sir Alex’s remarks have been festering and he is determined not to forget to say anything in the heat of the moment.

THE VOICE

Benitez starts off speaking very calmly, quite measured, but it’s almost too calm. The effort of it makes the delivery a little forced, and he can’t keep the façade up.

RISING TO THE BAIT

Many of the claims Sir Alex makes are for the benefit of his own team, but he’s so good at getting his rivals to the stage where they just can’t keep their feelings bottled up. He will be delighted Benitez has reacted.

MIND GAMES

Sir Alex knows what he’s doing when he makes these comments, but Benitez’s reaction is not one of a man confident his side can win the title. He is trying to control what is outside his sphere of influence.

It’s a cliché in psychology but you should only worry about what you can control, not what you can’t. That Benitez is trying to influence things beyond his control suggests Sir Alex has rattled him.

Benitez deflecting all the attention off the team. I love how people are failing to see that and focusing on the notes.

Win.

By acting barmy? I bet a lot of his players are just wishing he'd kept his trap shut. He's put the pressure firmly on them because now every other team in the country thinks that the house of scouse is being run by a dribbling idiot.

Epic Fail. IF Rafa wasn't feeling the pressure why respond at all? Why not just say, I'm concentrating on my own team? When Liverpool lose the title jow much of a fool will he feel?

Quite the opposite has been doing the rounds. It's unlike Benitez to come out in such a fashion, which makes me think he's acting on behalf of the players, who may well be feeling the strain of where we are in the league.

As I said before, people are concentrating on Benitez, not the team. I know a Portuguese manager who played a similar game and he wasn't too bad.

We're top of the league, no more eyes will be on us than usual, in my opinion.
