Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

As I said before, people are concentrating on Benitez, not the team. I know a Portuguese manager who played a similar game and he wasn't too bad.

Ah, but Jose, like Fergie, was a wind up merchant. And most of the stuff he came out with was tongue in cheek. His players knew it and were laughing about it. If the Liverpool players are feeling the pressure, this doesn't help them.

Rafa is not the special one....special needs, maybe!

Benitez hasn't wound up any United fans with his comments? I suppose the flurry of Photoshops are my imagination. :p

The players have to win games to stay top of the league, what Benitez said yesterday doesn't change that.

They ain't wound up at all mate, these photoshops spread like wild fire on Redcafe, It's an on going joke

Have a look for the Arsenal thread on there about how they celebrate when they win a throw in, corner, tackle.............It's immense :D

MU ain't wound up about it at all, remember we have been here before ask Wenger, Keegan, Mourinho and more

We have also been top of the league and had to deal with it, were also used to chasing as well so there is no pressure on us at all :D

no your wrong, Benitez talks facts whereas the lush talks bull ...

There wasnt much fact in his speech though - so if anything its the other way round.

Exactly right - been there, done it, and eaten the pie many many times

Its the people who are new to it (especially come Feb / March when every single game is utterly crucial, and 3 or 4 days between most of them) that need to worry

Graham Poll backs Rafael Benitez's outburst about Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Premier League referee Graham Poll has endorsed Rafael Benitez's claim that Sir Alex Ferguson receives lenient treatment from the Football Association.

Considered the Premier League's top official until his retirement at the end of the 2006-07 season, Poll enjoyed a good relationship with Ferguson, but the former referee agrees with Benitez's suggestion that the United manager receives preferential treatment from FA disciplinary chiefs.
"Rafa Benitez has articulated what referees have been thinking for years - that Sir Alex Ferguson can say what he wants about them and the FA will allow him to get away with it," he told the Daily Mail
if Poll agree's its true then who are we to argue!!! phew thank geez its sorted ...

He's not wound us up, he's merely entertained us with his ill-timed and ill-presented comments, we're putting that into pictures for further comedy effect. It's hardly United fans wound up :p.

i wonder what the neutral fans think?

Apart from finding it hilarious I can't understand why he came out with it, I doubt Fergie will be bothered in the least and he's probably sniggering at Benitez as he looked like a complete fool and as has already been mentioned if Liverpool fail to win the league now it will seem as if Benitez cracked:)

I think it would be silly to say that Benitez's comments didn't get under some skin yesterday. I suppose the making of images isn't the direct annoyance but the attention it has served up and general 'Rafa's lost it!' comments are.

Then again it will be hard to argue a case when anything Ferguson says is seen as a 'masterstroke' and any form of response is seen as dementia, regardless of content or manner in which it was said. (The Keegan comparisons being the best reference to that.)

Needless to say I would love it, love it if we won the league.

I'm sure Rafa believes that with united having 2 games in hand and the fact that liverpool still have to go to old trafford this season, that it is the right time to wind up the current English, European, and world champions.

Strange timing given it's only a week or two before Gerrards hearing. Would've been much better to have that outburst next week. Still funny though but hope it doesn't backfire and we lose to Stoke today :o

It is strange and very hard to figure out. I never took Benitez to do anything like this. However we all know that he likes to think a lot about many things, so I do think there was a purpose behind it.

I hope we win today and it doesn't backfire. But I do think highlighting the ref badgering was a good idea. Because his attack was so out of the blue, its big news to everyone in the football world, and it'll stay in the minds of the officials when United start pestering them and crying during and after games. ;)

So you're a neutral fan? Is that an admission that Chelsea are no longer in the title race?

He was merely underlining something everyone has known for years, in an effort to put a stop to it.

Agreed. Some of the coments in this thread only go prove that. In fact the more unworrid they claim to be, the deeper hole they dig ;)

For me it was just like the Keegan out burst but not as funny, Fergy is a Genius & I can only see him & the team laughing there arses off over this.
Can't do us any harm either :D

It's funny how it's only the Liverpool fans thinking it winds us up

Also how we and everyone else think it's funny as **** :D

If we beat Chelsea and win our games in hand there is only going to be one team worried ;)

I love how the Liverpool lot are claiming it has got under the skin of United fans, it's the complete opposite. Benitez has made himself look a total tool with very little provocation. It wasn't a Fergie 'masterstroke', because Fergie hardly said anything worth paying attention to... imagine what would have happened if Fergie was really trying!

I'd be more worried about my own manager coming out with something like that if I were Liverpool fans instead of saying he's saying what needed to be said. Some Liverpool fans seem to be defending Benitez' comments like they defend some of their squad!

It isn't like that though. The only 'neutral' that agrees with the Mancs is MrG and he still crys himself to sleep at night over the 'ghost goal' in the '05 semi so can't really be called a neutral ;)

The rest (on here and the usual plonkers writing into SSN etc) have said Rafa got it spot on and it's their reactions that's got under some of the Mancs skin :p
