I bought one of these monitors about 3 years ago but for around the last 3 months it has started playing up. On start up at 120 or 144Hz it is just coloured lines for around 3 minutes until it clears, 100Hz or below it starts normally. I have noticed if I open up a web page (msn) from my second monitor, a BenQ 2450 to display on the 2411T, then the web page looks normal apart from the pictures which have static lines going through them but when I close the web page the desktop is still static lines. I am just wondering if anyone else has come across this, and can give me an idea how long before my monitor packs in altogether.

I am not sure how to upload images so unfortunately cannot show you an example.

Thanks for reading.

I have been looking around the internet and it seems a few people have the same problem with this monitor, BenQ want nothing to do with it either which is not very good if it is a known problem with this monitor.
Considering I have had a Sammy 226BW for over 10 years which still works perfectly makes me think BenQ are a poor brand.

Here is a similar screen to mine, but on mine there is no distinguishable picture

EDIT

I figured how to get images on here, so this is my monitor

and after a few minutes

I am not happy Orangey, £260 is a lot of money for something that lasted less than 3 years. I hope yours stays OK for you mate.

So I guess no one from OCUK has read this thread yet then, if they had I am sure a company that every body praises for good customer service would have chipped in with something like -

Sorry for selling you this subpar monitor, 3 years isn't a long time but unfortunately with it being out of warranty there is nothing we can do about it. It really isn't on and I wouldn't be happy if I was in the same boat, tell you what, if you buy another monitor from us we will give you a great discount.

Yeah Yeah I know, if only Heineken sold computer parts.

So let me get this straight.
You're crying up a storm on forums about a monitor which unfortunately broke, is out of warranty, AND you want people to PAY you for it as well.

This type of elitist self titled post just ****es me off.
And this is an enthusiast hardware forum. Many people change computer parts as often as some regular joes change their socks.

your monitor worked reliably for quite awhile, there are many monitors now with much higher resolution and more features, and people buying new monitors are complaining left and right about dealing with the 1440p Gsync panel lottery, and your complaining about a screen which was manufactured 4 years ago, AFAIK.

Throw the monitor out and go buy a new monitor and stop complaining.

This type of self elitist crap gives me a good laugh, I am sure it probably makes you feel special telling people that, but this is just a forum for an outlet that sells computer gear.

Good on them, I have no problems (unlike you) with people complaining about shoddy workmanship, that's the problem with the world today, people like you who just bend over and take it.

Thanks Rossi, first thing I tried was the cable.

Dang. The reason i ask is that this can happen if one of the pins is bent or jammed in either the cable or the pin sockets on the graphics card or even the socket on the monitor.
Might be worth just checking the female connections on the graphics card and the monitor just to make sure there isn't a pin stuck in or the socket pushed back or something silly like that.

I ordered a brand new DVI-D cable on Saturday Rossi so it should be here later on in the week, you never know the 2 cables I tried might both be faulty. I will check the connection on the monitor too. I can't really stretch for a new monitor at the moment as I stupidly bought a 24 Inch BenQ as a second monitor just before this one started packing in.

I do have my eye on the Iilyama Red Eagle, as I would prefer to stick to 144Hz but not use free sync with me having a MSI 970.

Thanks again.
