BenQ 2420HDBL - Broken ?

So I turned this on today and ....... just a white screen whenever something should be displayed on the screen (including OSD menus). Still happens with nothing connected to it either, so I take it this is dead ?

I sent an RMA request to BenQ and they said it was out of warranty (I thought it had 3 years warranty, they say 2), giving the option for a repair .... which they quoted as costing more than its worth

Completely out of luck here or is there something anyone would recommend trying ?

Said sod it and opened it up. Found a loose connection (the main one by the looks of it), and after a bit of attempting to get it back in, I seem to have bent the metal shield surrounding the port and it fell off However I still plugged it back in (without the shield) and everything's working fine again.

Just need to know, is the lack of this shield going to cause any problems ?
