Hey guys,

thinking of changing to a widescreen..(BenQ EX3501R)

Will there be a massive drop in going from 144hz to 100hz?

and can a Vega 56 power these pixels well enough in games for medium / high settings??

I went from 144Hz 1080p to 100Hz ultrawide not long ago (well, this monitor can overclock to 120Hz, but as I can't get much higher than about 60-80fps in games I don't bother). Can't say I've noticed it that much, but it probably depends on the game you're playing. I've spent most of my time with this monitor either in desktop programs or in Rise of the Tomb Raider, so not tried CS:GO or anything. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood felt choppy and gave me a touch of motion sickness at times, but I think that's because it's capped at 60fps and is fast-paced first-person rather than anything to do with the monitor being set to 100Hz (I tried this game at 120Hz too, but it was no different).

I'm using a 980 Ti, which isn't probably that far away from a Vega 56, is it? Both RoTR and Shadow of War run 60-80fps in the benchmarks with only some settings turned down in SoW and a mix of high and very high on RoTR. I was worried I might need a graphics card upgrade, but I think I'll stick with this set-up for another few months (or at least until I see something tempting pop up on the MM).

I guess with that screen you'd get some VA ghosting, which is probably more of a concern than refresh rate. Although you'll not need to worry about IPS glow, so I suppose it's swings and roundabouts...

You can increase the limit to FPS in Wolfenstein advanced settings.

Really?! I played through the whole damn game locked at 60fps. The motion sickness was okay if I sat further back from the monitor, but with the UW filling my field of view, and with it being first-person I did find it uncomfortable close-up even with in-game FOV on max. I would probably have enjoyed it a lot more if I'd known that I could uncap the fps!
