I've been looking to buy a 24" monitor and was looking very closely at the Dell 2408WFP, but people are saying it's got major issues so, looking around I came across the Benq FP241W which seems to get rave reviews. However, this monitor seems to be getting on for two years old now. Anyone have any thoughts about whether there are better 24" monitors out now or whether this one still cuts the mustard? My budget is around £400 and I really want good viewing angles, DVI and composite inputs, so I can connect up a Wii!

Also, does anyone know if they use the same panel in the FP241WZ, which seems to carry a premium?

Thanks

the FP241W is still an excellent screen, no real issues and very good all round performance. I'd still recommend it tbh. The panel is very similar to that of the FP241WZ (the latter being of AU Optronics' AMVA generation rather than P-MVA), but in reality the differences are very small. The reason for the price premium on the Z model is due to the added BFI feature for reducing perceived motion blur.

I too am looking at those two screens, wanted to get the Dell as it is a newer monitor and looks slightly better but i'm getting sick of waiting for the new firmware to be released to fix the current issues. As for the FP241W, don't worry about it it being over two years old, my housemate paid over £700 when it first came out!. Personally i'm going to give dell another week to sort it out then i'm getting the Benq.

Ive had the benq fp241w for over 6 months now and can say im well pleased with it. im primarily a gamer but i also like to use the screen for watching movies. the viewing angles on it are very good and the range of inputs is impressive as well.

I'm looking for a BenQ FP241WZ 24" but OCUK are aout of stock and don't know when they'll be getting any more in.
Having the devil's own job trying to source one from elsewhere.
I could go for the BenQ FP241VW 24" i guess. Same panel i believe.

Id suggest waiting another few weeks for Dell to release the revised 2408HC, also look out for Hazros updated 24" panel which has even a better some would say screen :)

Aint decided on my next 24" screen either it does appear all the highend 24" screens have there fair share of issues also, only the TN panels seem to roll off and be fairly ok in most regards.

Regarding the Hazro, some people on here have mentioned it isn't particulary good for watching videos because of the poor black levels. I would stick to VA panels.
