Hey i was ment to get the FP241W at christmas but after serval delays and then a few more i can now finaly get it in june. But now the prices are lower i have the choice of the WZ. I look around at reviews and i cant find any comparing the two.

Does the WZ have a worse picture then the W because of this extra black frame and is that extra black frame actually doign anything other then a marketign scheeme?

Also are there any issues with 1:1 pixil mappign any more i think this may be a must for me as ill be takign this to uni and probably plug a consol up into it and dont want streched pictures etc.

I have the benq FP241W and i love it. The 1:1 pixel mapping works great and it has a lot ports like HDMI. The only difference with the "z" version is i think it just has a extra feature which i think is called PerfectMotion Technology which i think helps to stop blurring or something. But to be honest i don't think it's worth the extra cost. The FP241W had been great for games and movies for me.

MM if i turn this perfectmotion off do i get the exact same monitor as the W, i hear they use differnt panels though so i wonder if the colours are differnt. I think the Z is duller but if i turn it off is it still dull?

The price difference isn't huge so ill pay it if its going to make a difference. Either way im gettign one of theese :p

Had a 241w to begin with and then had to rma it due to 4 dead pixels and the fact that occasionally it would black screen (as if it lost the signal) for a second (BUT it did not turn off/on).

In exchange got a new 241wz model.

Have not yet used the perfect motion techno switch as have not felt the need but from what I have read :-
1. It can reduce ghosting in games
2. It can make watching films better - not sure how and why but it allegedly does help.
But it is not pleasant on text and day to day computer/internet use.

I have played games - including Half life 2 ep 2 and C&C 3 - and watched movies all three Spidey movies on BlueRay without using it .Have not yet felt need , but you never know.

There are 3 settings (including off) for the techno.

I am not at all sure wether the 2 monitors use the same panel or not - When I originally read reviews I read on some that the Z had a better pva panel but on others it was either not mentioned at all or it was said they were the same panel !!

Personally I found the Z model a little less 'bright' out of the box (both can easily be turned down) but have not as yet seen anything that 'shouts' it's a better model than the W.

To be honest i don't see how the perfect motion would help that much. The FP241W has no ghosting in games or movies from what i can see. I've read a lot of places saying that they are the same panel, but i'm not sure.

The screen blacking out i think was due to the cheap cable it was bundled with. I use a different DVI cable and i never get the black screen, but with the cable i got with the monitor i used to get the occasional black screen, but it would go back to normal after couple of seconds.

MM i see, andn now i hear about some harzo monitor eak lol. MM now its benq or harzo and i gues that the Z doesn't prove anything over the wz. ALthough i hear you can get older modles of the W which dont do overscan and 1:1 pixil mapping properly?

Yeah...the older models didn't do 1:1 pixel mapping, but all new models do and it works great. I'm not sure about overscan tho, but i'm pretty sure it was updated into the latest frmware.
