Hi,

I have noticed a strange problem with my 24" BenQ,
When i press the on/off button on the side of the monitor my
pc does a reset? It was ok in the past?
I have another weird fault where the screen goes black at random intervals.
example> today went black 4 times for about 4 seconds each time... after that was fine.
Is it my GPU or montitor at fault ? or anyting else?

cheers

Do you have the USB lead linked to your PC (the one that drives the small 2 port hub on the side of the screen) It could be something with that causing the PC to reset.

I've actually noticed the blacking out a few times aswell. It only goes black for maybe 3 or 4 seconds and quite randomly.

Anyone have any ideas?

Yes the USB lead is in and a USB headset connected to the monitor,
Been like that since i got it but the fault is more recent.
But i might try taking the USB lead out to see if that helps.

The blacking out is very random, Its done it 6 times today for a few seconds each time and then been on for 6 hours solid and no problems.
I am going to swap my monitors arround to see if i get the same problem on the other pc, and if same problem I will give Benq a call.

Hi, I've been looking to get a 24", and the BenQ had made it on to my shortlist and I was poised to buy, so I read your post with a bit of alarm. Just done a quick google and it seems this might be a problem with this particular monitor. Also some suggestion (not confirmed for definite) that it might be to do with an incompatibilty with ATI cards: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1030933693

Yeah I was reading that yesterday, I have an Nvidia though. However for the past few days I havn't had the blacking out problem. I did update my graphics drivers the other day so I'll let you know if/when it happens again.

When I googled I came up blank and did not see that forum,
So it seems its a common thing.

I am on a pair of ATI X1900XTX

going to contact Benq... see what they say

Been trawling through the official thread on hardforum.com and found this claimed fix. Either one of you want to give it a go?

nice find I didn't read that bit. I'll check it when I get home it could be that in my new drivers its enabled by default hence the reason I've not had the problem for a few days, if not i'll switch it on and see how it goes.

Hopefully sorts it because it is actually a very nice monitor and I've never regretted buying it even though it cost the amount it did

Hmm, have the same monitor but I havent experienced that problem since getting it.
Perhaps its because im running a Ati HD2900XT?
Hope BenQ can you:).
