Monitor is connected from VGA to my HD 6950. I don't have the option to set my resolution to 1920 x 1080.

In Catalyst Control Center I've unticked the option to use EDID and set the max resolution to 1920 x 1080 but this hasn't made a difference.

Any ideas?

Hi guys, any help on this would be really great as I'm sure most of you know more about monitors than I do.

It seems it's a problem with Windows 7 + ATI card not recognising my monitor's native resolution, as it defaulted to 800 x 600 and won't offer me any option larger than 1600 x 1200 (not even the correct aspect ratio).

i would imagine the vga port will be the issue. my tv does the same, locked to 1600x1200 with vga but via hdmi i can get 1920x1080. do you have any other way of connecting to test?

im not sure, but my HD6850 dual monitor setup (which i didnt setup til this morning so not had chance to play) will output 1600x1200 to my tv via dvi-vga but 1920x1080 to my LG monitor with the same cable/socket. but the tv will do 1920x1080 with a hdmi lead. the link you have included, shows not only an upgrade in windows, but also gfx card, maybe newer cards are more picky with what res they will force a monitor, not 100% sure but would deffo try and get hold of a different type of cable to eliminate it.

never installed drivers for a monitor befor, normally just plug and play. although my LG one did have a disc in the box, might see whats on it tonight.
