I'm close to buying this monitor from reviews/price among other things. My main concern is for gaming/movies is would i be better off with a 1080p display? I only have a SAPPHIRE R9 Tri-X OC 290 is this card enough to run this monitor? From what I've read these higher resolution monitors sacrifice frames for the higher resolution which is not very noticeable when gaming. Thanks for any info.

Depends on the game and settings of course but if it was struggling you can just run the game at 1080 res anyway and let the screen interpolate the image. Should handle that fine. And then you're not sacrificing for other uses and still get the nice high resolution
