Looking at upgrading the cinema room, been running an Optoma HD25 for 6 years now and looking to shift the whole setup to "4k".

The W5700 has a 1k price premium vs the W2700, is it worth the extra?

@lucid have you seen these projectors in person any worthy alternatives around this price point?

Went with the W5700 in the end, turns up tomorrow along with an Onkyo TX-RZ740 and Sony UBP-X700.

Looking forward to using Atmos at last in a 5.1.4 config, hopefully 3.5k well spent!

Sorry to dig up an old post, but just wondered what your long term thoughts are on the W5700? I'm currently going insane weighing up the pro's and con's of the W2700 vs W5700 (and the new UHD52 - no reviews yet...)

Very happy overall, colour reproduction and black levels look great to my eyes, no issues with a light border from the sensor, i have a dedicated matt black light controlled room, i'm not sure the W5700 would be that great in a lighter colored room.

I do have one issue with the dynamic iris being loud, it is a firmware fault and needs to go back for a firmware update at some point.

I was going to buy the W2700 at first, it is an excellent projector but i knew i'd always be wondering how much better the W5700 was given the location i intended to use it so that was really what made me decide in the end.

Cheers for that, I can control the light into the room but the ceiling / walls are light...I'm biting the bullet soon but still undecided...only thing putting me off the w5700 is brightness...like you I'm torn as the w2700 is brighter but doesn't handle blacks and therefore colour as well... aarrgghh!!! :)
