This monitor has DVI-D, can it do normal DVI?

I have a system from a friend but can't get a picture on my monitor, just wondering if that's an issue before i start diagnosing other problems.

thanks

"normal DVI"? what do you mean? there's DVI-D (which is standard digital) and DVI-I whcih can also carry analogue signals. DVI-D is the norm really, just make sure youre using the provided cable :)

DVI-D is dual DVI to allow 120Hz refresh rate, the graphics card in the system has normal dvi output, but doesn't display anything on this monitor.

not all DVI-D interfaces are dual link. that would be DL-DVI. have you connected up another/old monitor to check what resolution and refresh rate the graphics card is set at? make sure it's at 1920 x 1080 and 60Hz and then reboot and plug in the BenQ if you can. Have you tried VGA too to at least get you in to windows?

ye have tried everything.

Tried DVI, VGA, DVI to HDMI adapter, nothing, also tried on a vga and hdmi tv, no output, i reckon the card is fried :/

sounds probable if youve tried different screens too

Yep it seems the card is kaput, had it in my system just now and no signal, notice the fan spins and then stops a few seconds later.

Looks like Overclockers are getting another order in :)
