Hello Chaps,

Current monitor : BenQ ZOWIE 144Hz 1ms Dyac TN

Im currently only playing warzone and love the way the zowie plays @ around 150fps via a 2080ti

Problem is i know how much greater the picture looks on an IPS model but im all about a smooth experience these days, ive purposley stayed at 1080p to maintain FPS and feel everything is in sync ATM.

Challenger: ALIENWARE AW2521H 1080p 24.5" 1ms 360Hz IPS

Finally an ips monitor has been released that seems could surpass the gaming experience given on the Zowie or at least on paper it does. Could this gsync beast give a better gaming experience alround and see the Zowie off to ebay??? Im fine with the cost just dont want to fall for the hype!

Any thoughts on that one gents?

The AW2521H is a seriously good monitor, but no one can really say whether you will appreciate the increase in FPS. I mean personally I would say go for it, why not? But then I'm a nutcase and will spend any amount on a "better" PC. If nothing else it satisfies your curiosity!

I would take 1440p 144hz over 1080p 360hz hands down! You can find 1440p displays up to 240hz, Unless you are an eSport player I doubt you will ever notice the difference from 144 to 360, but you would definitely notice the increase in resolution and better colours switching to a 1440p IPS panel

The 360hz panel is IPS as well though.

I made a similar switch a couple of months ago, from a 1440p 144hz 1ms 27" screen to the AW2521H. My main thoughts are:
  • The difference in smoothness isn't really super-noticeable, going upwards. I often find you notice it more going the other way.
  • Colours haven't blown me away compared to my old TN panel, I think the blacks are better
  • There is marginally less ghosting/blurring of models during fast paced FPS games
  • My hitscan aim stats have marginally improved. I can't be sure if this is as a result of lower input lag, refresh rate, or what.
  • HDR looks lovely, when it works - seems highly erratic.
  • A fringe benefit is dropping to 1080p helps with framerates given the crazy gpu prices atm
Overall, I would say it is not worth the money (I paid £510 using student discount) but is the best monitor I've ever used.
