Guys,

I just bought Asus x79-Deluxe motherboard and on unlatching the cpu cover notice that the pins appear to be slightly canted over. Can someone tell are the pins on an x79 supposed to be all completely vertical? Or have what appears to me, to be a slight cant.
I haven't tried to install the cpu btw, I was just checking over the board. I'll try upload some images.

The pins are meant to be at a slight angle.

A bit like this (1155 socket but similar)

Ah Stulid mine look just like yours which seems to indicate they are ok? What do you think based on my pics?

Would be pretty unusual for every pin to be bent out of shape, at the same angle :p They are like this so there is some spring to them, the CPU pushes them down a bit when clamped in, to ensure contact.

Yep agree with you, it would be unusual. Its just I haven't seen the socket before and it looked odd to my eyes the lighting in the room I think made it seem worse, but thanks for the explanation. :D
