Hi guys, I was almost crying this morning when I was teaching a friend how to rebuild a computer. Being stupid, I let him rebuild my x99 build... Anyway so he somehow managed to drop a cotton cloth onto the motherboard pins, godknows how, so I have slowly pulled it off the pins and noticed there was many of them bent. Now I can build computers all day long, but bending pins back in to place I can't do. I have taken my tower down to the local computer shop and asked the guy to see if he can bend them back in place. I am preparing myself to order a replacement motherboard, and lets just say my confidence of getting the motherboard fixed is extremely low. Do you guys think I have a chance?

Preparing myself for the "you stupid sod comments" haha.

You may be lucky - I have done something similar before and got it working fine - however I ended up replacing as there'd always be the nagging 'could that be the route cause of an issue' later down the line.

Update. So the computer shop rung me this morning and explained I had 15 bent pins, they have managed to sort it out. Just got it home and booted up first time, seems I have been very lucky. Cost me £15 to get the pins bent back in place, bargain I think.

Nice glad you got it sorted mate ;)

Man, exact same thing happened to me when building a PC with my son. Dropped a microfibre cloth straight onto the motherboard and it got entangled on the pins. Thankfully only three bent pins compared to your fifteen but it took ages to straighten them. I think you got yourself a bargain there at £15!
