Bent Something?

Last week in the snow, I slid my Ford Focus into a kerb... the rear wheel is now at an angle, pointing in at the bottom. The camber is way off... now it's obvious I've bent something... it makes a noise like the wheel bearing has gone too.

I only hit this kerb at about 8-10mph, so there's no way it would have bent the axle... what else could it be?

I'm getting new front tyres tomorrow and I'm going to ask them to have a look at this too... but I'm just looking for any ideas on what it could be and the related cost.

Thanks for any help.

you won't have a rear axel being FWD. possibly bent a wishbone, unlikely, or rod end. probably completely wrong, no idea on cost.

The Focus's "control blade" rear suspension has fairly hefty control arms so I suspect either the stub axle or the subframe is bent, though not easy to say without inspecting it. Even at 10mph the forces involved when you hit something solid are very high.

A bent stub axle will probably mean a complete new rear upright which won't be cheap, though this is only a guess as I've not taken one apart. A bent subframe will be even more expensive, probably best to get s/h items if the car is getting on a bit.

The forces imposed on wheel bearings in this type of accident are more than enough to cause some damage to the races, so a noisy bearing is not really surprising.
