Hey guys, bought this technicaly yesterday, should be here mid morning. did i jump in too quick,i had a good look around the net before i bought it and saw nothing but praise. i hear theyre bringing out a platinum rated psu very soon ( sods law:P) anyway, is its going to be more reliable than my tx850 ? ( need to rma due to noisy fan driving me knackers) surprosed really as i thought corsair really were supposed to be dogs of the psus. im after a whisper quiet psu and i hope this isnt just marketing ha

hmm so very good then. a lot of stuff seems to be rebranded seasonic psu's dont corsair do that ?

Like all other X-Series units from Seasonic we’ve reviewed so far, the X-Series 850 W power supply is an impressive product, with extremely high efficiency (above 90%), 3% voltage regulation (i.e., voltages closer to their nominal value than necessary), and extremely low noise and ripple levels. On top of that, due to its highly overspec’ed components, we could easily pull 1,000 W from it.

The main “problem” with this power supply is its price. Two hundred dollars is a lot of money for the average user, but this product is definitely targeted to users that demand “the best of the best” and is willing to pay for it.

Sounds good to me!!

According to the bequiet website the fan used in the Dark Power Pro P9 850W is a Be Quiet Silent Wings with fluid dynamic bearings. It has a maximum (programmed) rotation speed of 1593RPM and its rated maximum sound level is 20dBA.
If all that is accurate then it would have to be faulty or you would need bat ears to be able to hear/be annoyed by it.

hmm theres a really high pitched subtle whistle like whine noise, really really highpitched cant explain it really. anything i should do ? its not like coil wine, its like the sound you hear when you can hear a hoover downstairs in the distant, that really high end part.
