I just fitted a BeQuiet SilentLoop2 280 AIO and it's... well..., not silent at all.

- At full speed the pump has noticeable whine - I have to run it at 75% to be acceptable
- If I listen carefully, there is a sound like grinding/cavitation in the pump.

Surely this isn't normal? My last one ((a v1, bought 7 years ago) was near silent with a low hum until it finally gave out.

Is the pump the highest point in the loop? Have you tried tilting/tipping it to make sure that any air trapped in the pump housing can escape to the rad/res?

75% pump speed will still be absolutely plenty for it to run effectively, but if it's a cavitation noise then it will likely be trapped air. If it's grinding then you might just have a bad unit.

Move your case around whilst it's on and see if the noise gets quieter, could be air stuck in the pump.

Well, after much moving of the case angles the pump noise has disappeared, but still the pump whine seems to be odd for an AIO sold on being the "silent" model with an extra quiet pump....

Are you still trying to run it at 100%? Any pump will have certain speeds where resonances tend to come in, so unless it's whining at all speeds, just change the speed until it doesn't and leave it. Or send it back and get something different!

I had two bequiet AIOs. One was completely silent the other would make a low humming noise no matter what.
